RCN

Died: 17 Jun 2023

McILMOYL, Wallace James (Wally) - It is with great sadness that the family of Wallace (Wally) McIlmoyl announce his sudden passing on 17 June 2023.

Born in Peterborough, Ontario, he was the son of the late Walter McIlmoyl, Alyce Quesnel and stepmother Bernice McIlmoyl. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Gosling), son Barry (Susan), brother Dale (Cindy) and sister Shelley (Melissa) as well as relatives in Ontario, Alberta and Nova Scotia.

In the early days, Wally served in the Royal Canadian Navy onboard HMCS Terra Nova before working with his dad as a barber in their shop in Peterborough, Ontario. He then moved his family to Dartmouth where he opened and operated Lighting Unlimited in Mic Mac Mall. Wally then went on to enjoy a long career in sales with Maritime Moving and Storage and after retirement he continued working part time for MacPhee Motors until recently.

Wally was a loving, devoted husband and father whose smile, sense of humour and good nature were contagious. He was a true gentleman and was always there to lend a helping hand to neighbours and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

An informal service of remembrance will be held at 11 AM on Friday, 30 June at Christ Church Parish Hall, 61 Dundas St., Dartmouth.
