In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GARDINER, Allen Peter - Age 87, of Halifax, passed away on May 28, 2023, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Toledo, ON, he was a son of the late Orval and Bessie (Francis) Gardiner. Allen was a retired member of the RCN, Yeoman of Signals. He worked as a server at the North End Beverage Room and later became the caretaker of that establishment. He was for a time, a member of the Metro Pool League. He also enjoyed playing darts and volunteering his time at Northwood Manor where he worked as a server for their social club. Allen is survived by his stepdaughter, Jacqueline (Tony) Turcotte; stepson Richard (Clara) Turcotte; grandchildren, Amanda (John) King, Jennifer, Nicole (Justin) Shore and Jessica (Gregory) King; great-grandchildren, Desaree, Dylan, Brianna, Danica, Gregory, Reid, Rylee, Jaxson, Rowan and great great-granddaughter, Everlyn. He was predeceased by his wife, Gayle (Gray); stepdaughter Dianne (David) King; brothers, Ralph, John, Omer; sisters, Jean, Mary, Lois, and Margaret. Cremation has taken place. The graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday June 2nd, in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, 3720 Windsor St., Halifax. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital. Thank you to the staff at 8.1 and 8.3 of the Halifax Innfirmary, QEII. They treated him as a member of their family, affectionately calling him “Pops” and always giving him the best care.
