GIRARDIN, Harvey Henry Maxim - Beloved husband to Faye Girardin (Baker), loving father to daughters, Karen (David Gordanier) and Arlene (Keith Miller), proud grandfather to Natalie and Matthew. Harvey was born on August 7, 1932 in Leamington, Ontario. At the young age of 17, Harvey joined the Military and served his country for 27 years traveling the world in the Canadian Navy. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge since November 1954. Upon retiring from the Navy, Harvey wanted to be near the sea and chose to build a home on Big Tancook Island, where he would live for the next 30 years working with the fishermen and for a time, served as Municipal Councillor. Harvey was known for his great sense of humor, stories of Navy life and generosity. If he saw someone with a need, he was there to help. Eventually, Island life became too challenging and a move to Bridgewater was more compatible. He continued to participate in the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and always had a little garden that he could putter with in the yard, sharing his veggies with the neighbours. Anyone who walked through his door, immediately felt welcome and was treated like family. Harvey loved entertaining and having company over. His sense of humor and big smile, that he was noted for, will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He leaves behind a huge void. Harvey passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 24, 2023 and is predeceased by parents, Thomas and Bertha (Morris) Girardin; brother, Arthur; and sister, Rose Lague. Service to be held on August 4th at 11 a.m. at the Chester United Baptist Church, 84 King Street, followed by a reception with refreshments. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Big Tancook Island Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Services arranged by Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Interment to take place at a later date. (The Saltwire Network 28 Jul 2023)
