John Roger Blais

RCN / C.A.F. (Navy)

Born: 28 Aug 1948, Rosemont, Quebec

Died: 24 Aug 2023

BLAIS, John Roger - On Thursday, August 24, 2023, Sara Patricia opened her arms to welcome her devoted husband, Roger to their eternal home. Heaven has gained a special Angel.

If you asked Roger his greatest accomplishment, it wasn’t a career, it was being a family man. He dedicated his life to his family, providing for them, supporting them, educating them, entertaining them with his stories and most of all showing them a genuine love.

Roger was born on August 28, 1948 in Rosemont, Quebec to his parents the late Foch and Irene Blais (Lasalle). When he was just 18 years old, Roger decided he wanted to join the Navy and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he met the love of his life Sara Patricia Theresa Somers and her two adorable boys, Michael, and Patrick.

After sailing the seven seas, Roger decided to retire and began trucking for Day and Ross, where he made many a trip.

Roger had a few angels waiting at the gate to welcome him, he was predeceased by his parents; wife, Sara Patricia; son, Michael; sisters, Karen, and Lauren.

He is survived by his son, whom he was very proud of, Patrick; grandchildren, Benjamin, Samantha, Chisa, and Justin; sister Gail; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice Halifax for their support and comfort in Roger’s last days and are grateful that he is now at peace. A special thank you to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Halifax for their support. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
