STIRLING, Matthew - Matt passed away peacefully at Mariposa Gardens on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Matt was born in Clayburn, B.C. and at the age of 17 he joined the RCN in 1944 for 2 years. Most of his working life was with the Operating Engineers Local 115 in different parts of B.C. He started out as a dredgeman on a steam derrick then a crane operator, dispatcher and business agent. Matt retired in 1986 and moved to Osoyoos in 1987 where he enjoyed going south to Yuma for the winter, fishing and camping. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy, sister Joan Taylor, son Doug (Lynne), Laura (Mark) step-daughters Julia & Barbara, 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His very special people are Quinn and Garret Pattenaude. Thank you to Dr. G. Tarr and the wonderful caring people at Mariposa Gardens. No flowers by request. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of his Life was held at the Osoyoos Legion, Saturday, November 9, 2013. (Hansons Keremeos-Similkameen Funeral Chapel)
