Died: 07 Feb 2007

CUNNINGHAM, Charles Edward (Ted) - of Onaping Falls. Passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 at a youthful 89 years of age. Petty Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy, scoutmaster and lifeguard, Ted defended freedom with honour before, during and after WWII. We will remember him. He was an icon in the town that he named and resided in for fifty-one years. Friends and family will remember his honesty, his strength and his simple lifestyle. Ted's vigour went beyond his extraordinary physical fitness. His strength was also his ability to forgive and never speak ill of anyone. His defence of our youth in today's world was unyielding. Loving husband of Margaret (Gordon) predeceased in 1988. Dear brother of Jim (wife Irene) of Dover, Florida, Fred (predeceased) and Donna (husband Greig) of Kitchener. Father of Stewart of Onaping Falls, John (wife Barb) of Edson, Alberta and Martha Cunningham Closs (husband Kevin) of Onaping Falls. “Grandpa Ted“ to Christopher, Ian, Lindsay, Megan, Keeshann, Linus, Wesley, Eamon and Niamh. Remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. A memorial wake will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 503 Onaping Falls on Thursday, February 15th between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Come enjoy a Guinness in memory of an old sailor. In lieu of flowers, Ted would have wanted you to give to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Cooperative Funeral Home, Chelmsford.
