PICKETT, William Nutter, AB, V2987, RCNVR, killed - 27 Aug 1943, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Isaac C. and Annie May Pickett, of Lower Kars, New Brunswick.

 

AB Pickett died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN, was hit by a glider bomb in the Bay of Biscay on 27 Aug 1943.  AB Pickett was a member of "B" gun crew and was killed at his post from shell fragments when the glider bomb exploded. He was buried at sea.

HMCS BRUNSWICKER - Enlisted 23 Jan 1942. Commenced Active Service 06 May 1942 as an Ordinary Seaman, RCNVR

HMCS CORNWALLIS - Drafted to CORNWALLIS 08 Jul 1942

HMCS CHARNY - Served in CHARNY 19 Sep 1942 - 25 Sep 1942 for training while drafted to HMCS CORNWALLIS

HMCS STADACONA - Drafted to STADACONA 29 Sep 1942

HMCS NIOBE - Drafted to NIOBE 28 Oct 1942
