GALLINGER, Sydney Sr. - Passed away peacefully at The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Center on Monday April 6th, 2015 at the age of 88. Proud veteran of WWII having served on HMCS Micmac. After his naval service, his chosen vocation was an electrician but his real love was farming. For over 20 years, he tended to a farm in West Templeton, complete with livestock, woodlots, sugar bush and many gardens. All the while, he worked shift work at Canadian International Paper Company in Gatineau, Quebec. Syd enjoyed a full and well deserved retirement with his beloved wife of 45 years Patricia (nee McKenna), survived by his brother David and family. Much loved father of Joanna (Allen), Colleen, Lesley (Doug), Susan (Tim), Bob, Tom (Christine) and Sydney Jr. (Brian). Proud Grandfather of Sean, Benjamin, Clayton, Amy, Jamie, Sarah, Jessica, Dustin and Dylan. Great-Grandfather to Adam, Jessa, Aaron and Brian Jr. Special and heartfelt “Thank you” to the staff at the Rideau South - Perley Veteran’s Health Center for their care and compassion.
