KING, Alan, CD - The passing of Alan Douglas King C.D. of Fredericton, NB, husband of Avis (Wilson) King, occurred on Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 5, 1927 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Alan King and Gladys Lindsay King-Wiseley. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. He belonged to the Shriner’s Club of Fredericton; Masonic Lodge in Miramichi; Luxor Temple in Saint John; Eastern Star and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. Alan enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and gardening. He was a 30 year veteran of the Military. Alan served with the Navy, Airforce and Peace Keeping with NATO in Africa. After his retirement from the military he was employed by Natural Resources for several years.

 

In addition to his wife, Alan is survived by his son, James Douglas King (Margarette) of Marathon, ON; three daughters, Sandra King (Greg Gallant) of Black River Bridge, NB, Judy Fifield (George) of Terrace, BC and Joanne Lorenzen of Fredericton, NB; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four sisters, Katherine Mills of Minto, NB, Mary Burpee and June Pickard both of Grand Lake, NB and Charlotte Clark (Dan) of Michigan, USA; one brother David King of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Irene Oulton and brother, Donald King.

 

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday August 30, 2011 from 2-7 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday August 31, 2011 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Alex Mills, Jim Mills, David King, David Wasson, Norm Sheen and Greg Gallant. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. (York Funeral Home)
