GRIFFITHS, Edward Steward, Sto 1c, V42952, RCNVR, MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of Howard Franklin Sherrard Griffiths and Ester Florence (Norton) Griffiths, of St. Catharines, Ontario. Brother of Helen, Ester, James, Harold, Clifford, May, Margaret, Dorothy, William and Trooper Howard Frank Griffiths, who died while serving with the Royal Canadian Dragoons.

 

Stoker Griffiths died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives.
