LIGHTHALL, Augustus Eastman CPO, A2404, RCNR MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of Augustus and Margaret Lighthall; husband of Mary Lighthall, of Picton, Ontario.

 

CPO Lighthall died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives. He was a seaman on S.S. Waterton before enlisting into the R.C.N.R. on July 06, 1940.
