STUART, George Alexander, AB A/AA3, V10937, RCNVR, MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of Edward Charles and Isabella P. Stuart, of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
Able Seaman Stuart died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives.
Able Seaman George Alexander Stuart of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan was the son of Edward Charles and Isabella P. Stuart who came from Argyll & Bute, Scotland. George was born at Brandon, Manitoba, and was working as a truck driver when he enlisted on February 04, 1942 at Regina, Saskatchewan.
