WRIGHT, Thomas, Stoker, V66434, RCNVR, MPK - 21 Aug 1944, HMCS ALBERNI - Son of Nathan Sulley Wright and Fanny E. Wright, of Toronto, Ontario. Brother of Lucy Wright and Bernard Wright.

 

Stoker 1st Class Wright died when his ship, HMCS ALBERNI, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 21 Aug 1944 by U-480, southeast of the Isle of Wight. Fifty-nine of her ship's company lost their lives. Prior to enlisting he attended Palmerston Avenue school and Central Tech. A carpenter by trade, he formerly worked in the aircraft division of Massey-Harris Ltd., at Weston.
