LOGIE, Dale Cameron - We very sadly announce the passing of our beloved father and good friend to many, Dale Cameron Logie on December 18th, 2023, at age 87. Predeceased by our mother, Marguerite (Babe) Logie, (nee Weeks), July 27th, 2022 and leaving behind son Grant and daughter Kathleen.
Our dad was born in the depression on a very humble and remote, small farm in Alberta. Dale was the youngest son of Robert (Bob) & Violet Logie (nee Spalding) and a loving and close brother to his predeceased siblings, Doug, Dorthy and Tommy. Dale later moved out to the west coast with his mom, to Vancouver Island, BC in his mid childhood, to resettle in Nanaimo, BC where he spent the rest of his childhood and teens, which he would report, were some of the best times of his life. Fatherless at the time, his sweet sister Dorthy's husband Jack, our funny, dear Uncle Jack, took on an older brother/father-like role to Dale in Nanaimo and our father over the years has often shared with us "how much" this extended care, mentorship, at times mischief and love had meant to him, also later leading to his own passion of being on the ocean fishing with his own wife and children. Dale also very much looked up to his older brother Doug who was also a mentor to him and a cherished brother, remaining close over the years. His brother Tommy had remained in Alberta, living in Edmonton with his own family and although we all remained in touch and visited, Tommy sadly lost his life rather early to a long fight with MS. We are nevertheless very grateful for all the love and good times his brothers and sister and their families have shared with both him and us, as these are all the things that help positively influence lives, past to present.

Dale in his teens and 20s had a love of nice cars (as did his future brother-in-law and friend, Uncle Jim Weeks), worked hard on fish packers, later joined the navy for approximately 5 years while engaged to our mom and felt so very lucky that through this, he also saw and experienced seeing a lot of the world. He later married, relocated to Victoria BC, had two kids and became a barber, owning his own shop for years (oh the hair cuts the kids got!). He later decided to switch into warehousing work, wishing to get out of barbering and the worry of running a business with a young, struggling family. This new venture carried our family for years also with our mother working, but hard times later hit with island, company closures and he therefore chose to accept a transfer to work in Vancouver, where after "many" years of long and tiring commutes back and forth, he finally and deservedly retired in Victoria. He did this for his family and we are "forever grateful" for this brave and difficult sacrifice away from his home, all those years.

Dale was a very genuine, kind and loving person and a true gentleman. He always had a helping hand to lend others and had a new (or old) joke ready in his back pocket to share with this mischievous twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. Our dad had a generous spirit, was a self made home carpenter & handyman when need be, with an eye for detail. He "tirelessly" worked on his yard and around the house, becoming almost a fixture in the neighbourhood, making friends easily as a very social man, always saying hello and happily chatting with others. No one could argue that he was a very hard worker, with whatever he put his mind to. He carried out his loving duties as a husband, in both "sickness and in health", remaining such a loyal and caring husband and father, in both the good & harder times.

Lover of the outdoors with decades of camping, fishing, hiking, outdoor fires, beach combing, boating, road trips, RVing (Canada and the USA) and enjoying his property and boat in Sooke, BC, with both his children and our mom, Dale would definitely report this all to be another highlight and major joy in his life. He loved most all types of music, walks around the neighbourhood with his last dog Cooba, had an open mind and was an avid reader, mainly of naval and military history, both fiction and non.

We had a kind and loving father and he always had a hand put out towards us in love. Our dad was fun, funny, creative, a good story teller, a provider, always helpful, generous and could have an old world charm and wisdom about him. My dad was our dad and what a dad he was and our friend and I know he was a good friend to others, as they were to him. No words can express "how much" he was loved, always will be and forever, dearly missed. We were lucky to have him in our lives.

He left me, his daughter with a gift of words once near his end, letting me know that he had a "good life", stating that he was blessed with good health for the majority of his life, had seen most of the world, had a loving family, good friends throughout life and had "no regrets"!

What a true "blessing" to be told such a thing. So dear father, since you used to tell me how much you loved those "puffy white clouds" against a blue sky that we would see together, I hope you are with mom resting on a beautiful, soft, puffy white cloud, made just for you, somewhere wonderful. We will meet up again dear mom & dad ... it's time to rest now, we love you always. No service by Dale's request.
