Died: 08 Aug 2004, Victoria, British Columbia

 

Served in the RCNVR 19 May 1941 - 25 Aug 1945

 

KERR Donald Alexander - born on December 19, 1919 in Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2004 at Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion. Predeceased by his son, Michael in 1995; daughter, Marguerite in 1996; two brothers and two sisters. Lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-seven years, Toleta (Terry); sister, Jean (Kate) Anderson; daughter, Diane Drake of Fife, Washington; son, David (Marg) of Coombs; daughter, Jo-Ann (Dan) Wallis of Campbell River. His twelve grandchildren, Sherri, Jo-Ann, Keith, Christopher, Kimberly, Crystal, Kim, Kevin, Michelle, Erin, Scott and Kaylee; fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In his youth, Don was a gymnast with the YMCA and won many awards. He was a member of the RCNVR from 1941 until 1945. Don worked at the Dockyard and retired from Yarrows in 1985. He was an avid golfer, curler and gardener winning many prizes for his vegetables. Dons passion was his grape arbour and making his own wine. Don had a great love for his wife, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his own kids. Special thank you to Dr. David MacNaughton; Tricia and all the staff at Oak Bay Kiwanis for their love and support. A celebration of Don's life will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson at Vancouver St., on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or the charity of your choice.
