Ralph Eugene Romans

 

Torpedo Detector / Clearance Diver, RCN / C.A.F. (Navy)

 

Born: 18 May 1936

 

Died: 09 Feb 2024, Kelowna, British Columbia

 

ROMANS, Ralph Eugene - Ralph was born on May 18, 1936 to the late Kathleen Romans. He was raised by his foster parents, the late James and Ethel Hopkins of South Rawdon, NS, where he grew up on the family farm; with their granddaughters Ruth, Gertrude, and Joan.

 

Ralph joined the Navy (1952 – 1974) first in general service then submarine service, and lastly as a clearance diver (deep sea). He moved to BC in 1974 and worked as a welder in the forest industry, retiring to Kelowna in 1988. He drove Kelowna Handi Bus until he completely retired.

 

Ralph was a member of the Legion and the Elks, loved all sports, with bowling being at the top of the list, and enjoyed socializing with family and friends.

 

He was predeceased by grandson Chad and is survived by his loving wife Carolyn (nee Tracey), daughter Krista (Ken) Garwasiuk; son Kirby (Brenda); grandchildren Korey, Kristopher, and Brandon; as well as great grandson Kruz.

 

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
