HEYCOCK, Selwyn Reese, AB, 3283, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Bethuel A. Heycock, and of Mary Heycock, of Vancouver, British Columbia.

 

Able Seaman Selwyn Reese Heycock, age 21, resided at 1164 Comox Street is another HMCS Fraser survivor. He was picked up after more than an hour in cold English Channel waters. He lost his life when HMCS Margaree went down after a collision with another ship. Able Seaman Selwyn Heycock was a submarine detection expert. He was a member of the naval reserve in 1937, and was called up for service in October 1938. He served on the destroyer HMCS St. Laurent before transferring to HMCS Fraser. He was a student at Carleton School.
