William Barclay Armit, R.D.

 

Captain, O-2700, RCNR

 

Born: 25 Jul 1855, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland

 

Died: 06 Nov 1964, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

 

A son of William and Isobel Armit; husband of Myrtle May Armit.  William Armit served in the Royal Naval Reserves as a SLt and Lt during the First World War and in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves during the Second World War.

Wednesday, August 13th, 1947 Pg Four - Local and General - Capt. W. B. Armit and Mrs. Armit, who have been guests at Boscawen Manor returned to Lachine, Quebec on Tuesday. They had as their guest over the week-end Capt. Armit's brother, Com. (E) Gilmour Armit of the R.C.N., who recently returned to Canada on the "Aquitania." 

 

Wednesday, October 20th, 1948 Pg Four - Local and General - Mrs. W. B. Armit has moved into her new home on Blockhouse Hill. Capt. Armit is returning very soon from Africa.

 

Wednesday, November 10th, 1948 Pg Four - Local and General - Captain W. B. Armit returned home Tuesday last after a five months voyage to Africa in command of the Steamship "Chandler".  On Friday evening a number of Captain and Mrs. Armit's intimate friends surprised them in a "House warming party"
and presented the couple recently moved into their new home with an electric water kettle.  Bridge was enjoyed and refreshments served after which the visitors extended good wishes to the honored couple who have recently established their permanent residence in Lunenburg.
