MASON, George Edgar. - Halifax - 63, died Monday, February 22 1988, at home. Born in Falkland Ridge, Annapolis County, he was the son of the late Harold and Georgie (Brown) Mason. He attended school in Lunenburg, NS. He served overseas in the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He was a graduate of Mount Allison University and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia. Following graduation he joined Foulis Engineering Sales Ltd and later became president of the company. At the time of his passing, he was president of Nautilus Equipment Ltd which he started in 1980. He was a member of the Engineering Institute of Canada and the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia. He was an active member of St Augustine's Church in Jollimore, having served on the vestry and as a choir member for a number of years. He participated in several other community activities including the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club. As an active sailor, he was a member of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and the Lunenburg Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan Morrow; son James F at Windsor, NS; two daughters, Jean (Mrs David Gillespie) and Susan (Mrs Donald MacLeod), both of Halifax; four grandchildren (Christie and Robert Mason and Heather and Janet MacLeod); a sister Gertrude in Lunenburg; two brothers, John in Fredericton, and Bill of Granite Springs, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Robert George and a sister Marguerite. The funeral was held on February 24th at St Augustine's Anglican Church, 290 Purcell's Cove Rd, Canon Harold Craven officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, after the service. Donations may be made to St Augustine's Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
