In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
DUVAL, Neil Albert - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Neil is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Audrey and their 2 sons, Ken (Valerie), Jim (Elizabeth) and daughter Patricia (Larry); grandchildren Bradley, Christine, Cameron, Kirsty, Graham and Erin; his brother Roy Duval in Trenton, Ont. and his sister Hazel Tyler in Victoria, B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Mabel Duval and youngest brother Alan Duval. Neil was born in Saanich, B.C. He was one of the top bicycle racers in Western Canada in the 1930's. Neil's many trophies and championship bicycle can be viewed in the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Neil's career achievements are many, as he began in the Saanich Fire Dept. until he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1949, where he attained the rank of Commander. He was then stationed in Ottawa until his retirement in 1967 and moved back to the West Coast. In 1968 he returned to work for the Gov't of Canada as Regional Fire Commissioner, Pacific Region. Neil Duval lived his life with dignity and was highly respected by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. He will always be remembered for his kindness and warm sense of humour and will be greatly missed by his family. The family would like to sincerely thank the caregivers at Newton Regency Care Home and the staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital for being so caring to Neil. A very special thank you to Dr. Blyh Low for his compassion and care for Neil and our family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
