WATTS, Albert James (Bert) - After a long but valiant struggle with Parkinson's Bert passed peacefully at The Lodge at Broadmead, surrounded by his loving family. Bert served his country for 28 years in the RCN, including one tour during the Korean War onboard HMCS CAYUGA. Leaving the Service in 1974, Bert worked for Bristol Aerospace in Winnipeg before retiring for good in 1989 and returning to Victoria. Bert is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty (nee Lawton), his three children: Maril Hanna; Barry Watts; and Jay Watts (Terri); his grandchildren: Skye and Adam; Kimberly, Amy and Corey; and Laura, Cameron, Diana and Richard and special family friend Phil Jamieson. Bert was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Best Friend. Sadly missed but always loved. Special thanks to the extraordinary staff at Broadmead, their kindness and compassion allowed Bert to spend his final days in grace and dignity. The family plans a private gathering to mark Bert's passing. The family requests donations be made to the Lodge at Broadmead via Broadmead Care, 4579 Chatterton Way, Victoria, BC V8X 4Y7 in lieu of flowers. (The Victoria Times Colonist 23 Sep 2914)
