DOMEIER, Eric Curt, AB ST, 3173, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Ida Domeier, of Lethbridge, Alberta.
Able Seaman Domeier died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
AB Domeier was born at Glenford, Alta., on 31 Aug 1918. He entered the service in June 1938 at Esquimalt, BC and later proceeded to Plymouth, England, for trades training as a torpedoman. AB Domeier was a survivor of HMCS Fraser when it was sunk in Jun 1940. He was one of the crew of HMCS Margaree when it was lost during the night of 22 Oct 1940, in a collision in the North Atlantic. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ida Domeier, Lethbridge, Alta.
