PADDON, John Neil - It is with great sadness that the family of John Neil Paddon (Pat) announces his passing on September 5, 2025, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Helen Mary Paddon (Churchill), along with many other cherished family members and friends who went before him.

Born on January 18, 1936, in Windsor, Ontario, John spent his early years there before moving to Nova Scotia in 1956 to join the Navy. It was in Nova Scotia that he met Helen, the love of his life, and together they raised four children: Linda (Al), Bruce (Rosalind), John Jr (Lorrel) and David (Rose).

In 1979, John and his family relocated to Alberta, where they built a life full of love, laughter, and memories. John was deeply involved in his community throughout his life, volunteering his time and talents in many ways—from square dancing groups to the Calgary Police Force, to many local organizations. Always ready to lend a hand, John's generosity and kindness touched countless lives.

Family was always John's greatest joy. As the years went on, he delighted in the growing love of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Balzac United Church, 10076 AB-566, Balzac, AB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Balzac United Church, the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

John will be remembered for his devotion to family, his generous spirit, and his unwavering willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. (The Halifax Chronicle-Herald 23 Sep 2025)
