MOYER, Whitney Eugene - Born into humble means, Dad was supporting himself by his middle teens. It was during this time when he was working as a car hop at a Vancouver White Spot that he met the love of his life, Barbara Fisher. And so began their bond of nearly 70 years. Mom sadly predeceased Dad during COVID. In so many ways they were two very different people and together made a formidable team.

Mom was clever, kind, funny, creative, and all things 'family'. She seemed to effortlessly raise four young boys with wisdom and kindness to become happy and positive men. She made every day a sunny day. An artist in her own right, Mom created beautiful paintings and pencil sketches, and she made a warm, welcoming and artfully curated home. She made friends wherever she went, and when travelling language was never a barrier because she communicated so beautifully with her hands, expressive face and smile!

Dad was always hard-working and joined the Navy to support his growing family. There he gained an education in electronics and worked with computer systems. Dad was a deeply cultured man who loved good music, good literature and a good dram shared with family and friends. He was a lifelong learner who surprised us all when he studied and achieved university level French! He had an open and curious mind throughout his life.

After serving his country for 25 years, Dad enjoyed retirement with Mom and their love of home and family and together they embarked upon many memorable international travel adventures, which included making life-long friends in France and Scotland.

As Dad got older, he said several times that his wish was to "go to bed to sleep one night and never wake". In the end, it seemed he did it his way.

Barbara and Whitney Moyer were much loved and will be missed by their four sons and daughters-in-law, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Fair winds and following seas. We'll see you both on the other side. (The Victoria Times Colonist 12 Jul 2025)
