SLUSARENKO, Joseph - The family of the late Joseph Slusarenko wish to announce, with sadness, his passing on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his wife Mary Leona (Morrow) 2005, brothers Paul, Mike and John. Left to cherish Joseph are his children Kathy (Halifax), Mike (Rita), Peter (Sandra), Mary-Anne (Winnipeg); ten grandchildren, Joyce, Jacqueline, Michelle, Melanie, Shaun, Duril, Christina, Damian, Ernie, Candace; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Eggett and Marion Smith (Jim); brother Bill and extended family members. Joseph was born in Poland on November 30, 1926 and immigrated to Canada. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 20 years and was a veteran of both the Second World War and the Korean War. He worked for the Federal Government until retirement. He spent his leisure time golfing and fishing. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St., Winnipeg. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
