HARRINGTON, Edgar, Sto 2c, 21680, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Freeman and Sarah Alice Harrington, of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia.

 

Stoker Harrington died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.

 

Stoker Edgar Harrington, Age 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman and Sarah Alice Harrington, Parrsboro, was reported missing in HMCS Margaree disaster. He joined the R.C.N in January, 1940. Two brothers Charles at Aldershoot and John at Amherst are on active service. Two other brothers are Percy and Kenneth at home. His sisters are Jean and Gladys at home and Mrs. William Adams, Truro, whose husband is in England.
