In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PEARMAN, Darrell John - 88, of Bridgewater, passed away June 11, 2025 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Hugh and Alma (Belliveau) Pearman.
Darrell moved to Virginia after the death of his father and attended Culpeper County High School. After graduation, he went to Quantico to write his exam for the Navy. After a visit with his siblings in New Brunswick, he returned to the USA to begin his career in the American Navy. Finding out his paperwork was wrong; this forced him back to New Brunswick where he joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He was later transferred to Stadacona in Halifax where he served on various ships as an ABLM First Class, until being injured on the line of duty.
During his time in the Navy, he met Helen and they were married on November 4, 1961.
After and Honourable Discharge, Darrell took various jobs until 1962 when he accepted a position with Parks Canada as a Graphic Art Designer, sign writer for the Atlantic Region.
He and Helen moved their family to Bridgewater in 1990, but Darrell travelled to Halifax to work until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of West End Baptist Church, Halifax and a current member of Bridgewater Baptist Church.
Surviving are his only son Andrew (Vilma); grandchildren Carl, Jennie (Curtis Lane), Paolo (Kalynda), Neveah, and Bronwyn; nieces and nephews Ronnie Pearman, Darrell Pearman, Bobby Pearman Heather Comeau, Darlinda Comeau, Stephen Comeau, Derik Comeau,Christine Marino, Jimmy Marino, Stephen Marino, Derek LeGard, Susan LeGard, Mark Hankinson, Edson Hankinson, Debbie Hankinson and Kevin Hankinson. Darrell will also be greatly missed by the family dog Abby.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Helen; sisters Bella Comeau, Eleanor Marino and Marie Pearman; brothers Ronald Pearman, Hugh Pearman; nephew Stephen LeGard,Ricky Pearman, Michael Pearman.
We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at South Shore Regional Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion they provided to Dad during his time there.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Friday June 20, in Bridgewater Baptist Church, Reverend Aaron Kenny officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville.
