PARSONS, Donald Frederick - It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Donald Frederick Parsons on May 13, 2025, at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 96.

Donald was born on October 13, 1928, in Grand Bruit, NL, to Frederick and Mary (nee Ingram) Parsons. He lived a full life, moving to Halifax and marrying his beloved wife Abigail "Babs" Parsons (nee Rose), who predeceased him on March 26, 2007. He is also predeceased by his siblings Garfield, Ada, Allan, Willis, Mona, and Ena

He served 25 years as a Wireless Communications Officer in the Canadian Navy, before retiring and working at the Bank of Montreal for 15 years. He was a member of the Masons' Lodge and St. Mark's Church in Halifax, where he and Babs volunteered much of their time. He loved to play the accordion, watch hockey games, and sit on his front porch with a glass of Glands in hand, watching ships pass through the harbour.

He loved his family dearly, enjoying his time fishing, building kites, and sailing toy boats with his son, Tommy. He spent much of his retirement caring for his two granddaughters, Danielle and Caitlyn, who he could often be seen walking to and from schools and daycares.

He is survived by his son Thomas (Joanne), granddaughters Danielle (Colin) and Caitlyn, and his great-granddaughters Riley and Isla Fay.

We are grateful to the wonderful staff of the 4W wing at Camp Hill. Your kindness, support, and care during his three years of residence made this process much easier for us all. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

A funeral and reception will be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 5522 Russell St, Halifax, NS, on Monday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) Camphill Veterans Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice. (Arbor Memorial)
