HMCS JAMES BAY - Appointed to JAMES BAY 27 Dec 1961 as Executive Officer (Navy List Apr 1962).  I was appointed as XO for 9 months.  This was as a reward from Admiral Finch-Noyes, for my not being sent back to university to complete a degree that I had requested, and been approved for, before Headquarters changed their minds. Then changed them back again and did send me, as the first in my term to get a BSc degree at the University of Victoria. I thought that because Tri Service Cadets all had degrees now, if I got one it would help with promotion.
