PRISKE, Sidney Russell - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend Russell Priske in the QEII Halifax Infirmary. Born on January 19, 1940, to Gertrude and Edward “Ted” Priske, he was the youngest of 5. He spent his boyhood years in Halifax’s North End, attending Richmond School and Halifax Vocational School. The navy came calling at the young age of 17. Like his father, older brother and sister he answered the call and served for 12 years. After leaving the navy he worked a few jobs eventually finding work a stores-man for the Federal Government, where he worked for nearly 2 decades. While living with his brother Bob he met a widow across the street who had 7 kids. They fell in love and were married in 1972. Scott came along not long after that. They lived in that house on Kenwood Avenue for 38 years before moving to Timberlea to live out their golden years. Dad had a great sense of humor and loved to eat, with prime rib being a particular favorite. He always had a good, off-color joke ready and enjoyed wearing novelty T-shirts that were sure to get a laugh. In retirement, he and Mom enjoyed traveling, and they were always up for a good bus tour. Their travels took them across Canada and to various countries, including the States, Ireland, Holland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Demark and Norway. Left to mourn is the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Patsy (Marryatt). His 8 children; Barry Hart (Nadia Samaroo), Surrey, BC, Margie Hart (Mike McKay), Little Harbour, Connie (Pat) McKay, Spryfield, Carolyn (Dave - predeceased) Dober, Timberlea, Andy Hart (Diana), Ketch Harbour, Darren Hart (Peggy MacIsaac), Middle Sackville, Elaine Hart, Timberlea and Scott (Jenn) Priske, Timberlea. His 13 grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) Lemoine, Gene McKay (Laura Wamback), Kristy Hart, BC, Brandon (Megan) Hart, Jordon (Meaghan) Hart, Edmonton AB, Lindsay McKay (Jordon Legere), Mary-Anne Dober (Brian Stevens), Mitchell Hart, Alisha Hart (Pat Pytlik) Cameron Hart, Amber Hart, Lilly Priske and Cara Priske. His great-grandchildren, Michael, Mark, Emily, Chloe, Patrick, Elliott, Hudson, Jay, Max, and one on the way. There were always friends in our house. They were treated like one of their own. Particularly Guy who was like another son to them. Visitation will take place on Sunday January 4, 2025 from 3pm-7pm with A Celebration of Life service at 4pm all in T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sage Dixon and nurse Freddie for the kindness and care they showed us while he was in hospital. As well as EHS NS and Station 58, Halifax Fire, Timberlea. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in dad’s name to Prostate Cancer Canada (Atlantic), Movember Foundation Canada, or a charity of choice Or you could do something nice for someone. That’s what Russ would have done. (T. J. Tracey Funeral Home)

Sidney's father, Mercer Edward Priske served in the RCN; as did his brother, Robert Edward Priske.
