In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PEEBLES, Gary Garfield - born and raised in the Selkirk area, Manitoba. Gary worked in a steel foundry doing many different positions and occupations for 32 years.
He loved fishing, hunting and participated as a team member in hockey and baseball. Being raised a catholic, he sang in a choir, then joined the navy in his younger days and earned the nickname "Popeye". He enjoyed music, instruments and dancing. He loved to sing and luckily was blessed with a very good voice. One of his major accomplishments was to be recognized as Metis both in Manitoba and Alberta (Region 5), he also contributed to many First Nation organizations. He particularly love to be around horses and the country life with all it's beauty and the nature of wild life.
A very proud father to his two sons Evan & Mitchell (Wife Sarah), and the most recent twinkle in Gary's eyes is his new grandson Brody. Gary also loved to socialize and mingle with people, friends and family, he enjoyed their company.
Son of Ernest and Liliane Peebles, who served on the front lines in World War 2, he survived but later passed on which Gary kept close to his heart.
Gary was a good man with a big heart, He will be greatly missed by many who knew him, he will leave a tremendous emptiness in our hearts, but always remembered.
RIP Gary. With all our love, Diane, Evan, Mitchell, and little Brody. (Northern Alberta Funerals)
