In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
HENDERSON, Garry William (Bill) - Pictou. It was with very sad hearts that we said goodbye to our father, Garry William “Bill / Billy” Henderson, who passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday January 27th, 2026, surrounded by his girls.
Born to Ray and Peg Henderson, Bill lived most of his young life in the Lyons Brook and Loch Broom area before leaving for the military in 1962.
In 1974 after many years of service in the Canadian Navy as a Master Seaman, Bill moved his family back home to Loch Broom, where he took a career with Michelin, eventually settling in the town of Pictou. After his retirement from Michelin, Bill remained very busy working and volunteering on many boards and committees to help better his community that he held so dear.
Bill loved being close to water and nature. He also enjoyed gardening, carpentry, and spending time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his brother, Robert “Bob” Henderson; daughters, Teri (Kevin), Wendy (Graham), and Pam; his grandchildren, Kayla (Cody), Erin (Daniel), Melissa (Danton); eight beautiful great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. His family meant the world and he cherished them all.
Bill was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of sixty years, Dorothy (MacKenzie) Henderson; grandson, Jimmy Cox; and his sister, Jane Krylik
A celebration of Bill`s life with a visitation will take place at the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou on Saturday, February 7th from 2-4pm. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice. (McLaren Funeral Service)
