RICHARDSON, Agnes Stewart (née ROBERTSON) - We are saddened to announce the passing of Agnes Richardson just one month short of her 103rd birthday. Agnes led a remarkably full life and passed peacefully surrounded by family. Agnes is predeceased by her parents George and Fanny Robertson; her sister Audrie (Arnie); and her beloved husband of 63 years, Mac Richardson. She is survived by her three sons; Wayne (Mary) of Ottawa, David (Christy) of 150 Mile House, and Ian (Sharon) of Calgary; her seven grandchildren Mark (Julie), Sarah (Todd), Sean (Jodi), Tiffany (Chris), Avery (Lindsay), Kent (Kate), and Brock (Auralia); GG's great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Kayla, Juniper, Juliette, Andrea, Cameron, Zoé, Ember, and Fox, her niece Deb (Ron) along with many extended family members and dear friends across the country and in the USA.

Born in Vancouver and raised in Oak Bay, Victoria, Agnes spent her youth alongside her sister Audrie [Robertson]. She was a bright student and accomplished pianist. In 1943, Agnes and Audrie enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy as WRENs, making a meaningful wartime contribution. While stationed at HMCS Avalon in St. John's, Newfoundland, she met fellow naval officer, Mac Richardson. Later marrying at the Empress Hotel, he became her lifelong partner for over seven decades.

Agnes and Mac settled in Toronto, where she stayed at home raising the family while Mac pursued his career of 44 years at Carling O'Keefe. Her life was full and enriched by friendships, church gatherings, gourmet cooking and entertaining and volunteering at North York General Hospital.

In 1984 after retiring, they moved into their Colwood home with a view across the water of the navel base and Victoria Harbour. They joined the Church of The Advent, volunteered at The Priory and traveled the world.

Agnes resided at Trillium West Shore Village for her last 5 years. There, she found a new community of friends and supportive staff. Agnes's life was defined not only by its remarkable length, but by the warmth, hospitality, and steadfast love she extended to others. She leaves behind generations shaped by her example, many who will fondly remember her greeting them, "Hello Dear."

Goodbye GG, we love you.

Agnes had many meaningful relationships with Bev, Lydia, Deanna, Mary and Tammy to name a few. It is important for our family to thank her dear friends Liz (her "birthday twin") and Azeita. A lifeline for Agnes and our family, Azeita was an unwavering support over the many years.

Our family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the exceptional and compassionate staff of Victoria General Hospital Ward 6DN including Dr. Robert Edmonds, Nurses Pria, Rachel, Asad, Fang, Isabell, Angela and Olivia and others. We also want to express our gratitude to Reverend Ingrid Andersen of the Church of The Advent. Reverend Ingrid administered moving prayers to Agnes and all in attendance witnessed the power of prayer. Thank you to Cheryl Chalifour, Jojan Manikath and the entire support team at West Shore and kudos to Robert Kroeger and his culinary team.

A celebration of Agnes's life will be held in the Anglican Church of The Advent (510 Mount View Ave, Colwood, BC) at 2:00pm on July 11th, 2026. (The Victoria Times Colonist 14 Mar 2026)
