OLSON, Ole Adrian, Sto 1c, 21555, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of Ole and Elizabeth Olson, of Robsart, Saskatchewan; husband of Jane F. Olsen, of Cambridge, England.
Stoker Olson died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.
Stoker Ole Adrian (Ogie) Olson of Robsart, Saskatchewan was the only son of Ole and Elizabeth (Bessie) Olson who came from North Dakota to farm northeast of Robsart, Saskatchewan. Ole Sr., a Navy veteran of World War I, later bought grain at Robsart. Ogie, who was a trucker when he enlisted on October 03, 1938 at Esquimalt, British Columbia, left a wife Jane F. at Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. Ole "Ogie"Olson survived the sinking of HMCS Fraser.
