REID, Robert Benzie, Ordnance Artificer 4c, 21639, RCN, MPK - 22 Oct 1940, HMCS MARGAREE - Son of William and Helen Reid, of Hamilton, Ontario.

 

Ordnance Artificer Reid died when his ship, HMCS MARGAREE, was struck by the freighter SS Port Fairy while in convoy and was sunk. 143 of her crew were lost, 86 of them were survivors of HMCS FRASER.

HMCS STADACONA - Enlisted 16 Sep 1939 as an Acting Ordnance Artificer 4th Class, RCN

HMS EXCELLENT - Drafted to EXCELLENT 20 Jan 1940 for course.

HMCS MARGAREE - Drafted to MARGAREE 15 OCT 1940
