Died: 08 Jan 2003, Lunenburg, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia

 

WAMBOLDT, Randolph St. Clair (Randy) - 82, Garden Lots, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at Garden Lots, he was the eldest son of Charles and Luetta (Walters) Wamboldt. Leading Seaman Randolph Wamboldt, RCN, was a Second World War veteran of mine sweeper operations in the North Atlantic, English Channel, and Dieppe. After the war he was the chief stationary engineer for the Lunenburg Marine Slip for over 30 years. He was a very proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Lunenburg, for over 50 years and an adherent of Central United Church where he was involved in many church committees and activities.

 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Violet Evelyn (Zinck); daughters, Carolyn (Bill) MacLean, Bedford; Katherine (Michael) Forsythe, Moncton; Bonnie (Gary) Schmeisser, Bedford; son, Barry, at home; grandchildren, Randolph, Robert, and Donald MacLean, Michael and Caroline Forsythe, Kyle and Kristin Schmeisser; great-grandchildren, Megan, Lauryn and Brock; brother, Robert (Hilda), Garden lots; sister-in-law, Elaine Wamboldt, First South; aunt, Elsie Silver, Martin's Brook; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by an infant son; brother, Elvin.

 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Visitation 2-4 ,7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment will be in Garden Lots Cemetery Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Central United Church or any charity. (The Halifax Chronicle-Herald)
