In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
MASON, James (Jim) - Passed away at Brucelea Haven on Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was 87. James Beverly Mason was born and raised in Wiarton, Ontario by the shores of Colpoy's Bay where he developed a love for water, swimming and fishing. He loved animals especially his dogs and cats, nature, bird watching and cross country skiing. Jim particularly enjoyed spending time with all children especially his grandkids and great grandchildren. Jim served in The Royal Canadian Navy stationed out of Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1952-1957 and sailed to many countries. He since worked as a stationary engineer at Canada Packers, Knechtel Furniture and Walkerton Hospital. Jim and Ada resided in Walkerton for over 56 years and during their retirement were able to travel, watch The Blue Jays and attend their families' sports and activities. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Ada (nee McCoag). Loving father of Jill Mason (Bill Calder) of Stratford and Jackie (Ken) Knoll of Dunkeld. Proud grandfather of Tali Calder, Leah Knoll (Jonathan Bagnell), Darcy (Sara Parkes) and Kendra Knoll (Joel Crocker) and great grandfather of Reese, Kian and Margaret. Jim will also be missed by his siblings Peter (Pat) of Oshawa, Gail (Deb) Brough of Wiarton, Rowena (Bill) Leney of Stratford, Judy (Darryl) Hannigan of Oil Springs and Kirk of Victoria, BC and his in-laws Royden (Grace) McCoag of Palmerston, Rob (Donna) McCoag of Listowel and Donna Mason of Walkerton. Jim was predeceased by his brothers Doug and Bill (Eleanor), his sister Faye and his parents Aubrey and May (nee Alderson) Mason. Arrangements celebrating Jim's life will be held in the spring and announced at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Brucelea Haven Activation Fund, CARE Canada or Parkinsons Canada would be appreciated by the family. (The Wiarton Echo 24 Jan 2017)
