TAILLON Pierre De Boucherville - beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator, naval officer, and business leader, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the age of 93. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, on January 17, 1933, Pierre was the son of Paul Taillon and Delia Beaudoin. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Jackie Ghislaine Bolduc, in Ottawa. Together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage and raised two sons, Jean (wife Kim Nguyen) and Claude (wife Louise Taillon), both born in Sainte-Foy, Quebec. Pierre enjoyed a distinguished career in the petroleum industry, working for Petro-Canada and its predecessor companies throughout Quebec and Ontario. Following his retirement in 1995, he continued his second career, sharing his extensive business experience as a marketing lecturer at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), where he taught from 1979 until 2008. A proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy, Pierre joined through the University Naval Training Division (UNTD) program in 1951, earning a university scholarship. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and served as Chief Officer of the UNTD at HMCS Donnacona in Montreal. After retiring from naval service in 1972, he continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from McGill University, in addition to his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. Pierre was deeply involved in professional and community organizations. He served as President of the Royal Canadian Military Institute from 1998 to 1999 and was Chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Among his many accomplishments, he was recognized as a Toastmasters award winner in the 1960s, coached his sons' hockey teams, and pursued his lifelong passions for skiing and spending time at his cherished cottage on Ashby Lake, Ontario. Above all, Pierre valued family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jackie; his sons, Jean and Claude; his grandchildren, Danielle, Natalie, Renée, Annik, and Ben; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Melody. Pierre will be remembered for his leadership, integrity, dedication to learning, and unwavering commitment to his family. His wisdom, generosity, and sense of purpose will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We would like to thank the incredible staff (LSSW wing) at the Sunnybrook Veterans hospital for their tremendous work taking care of our father. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Veterans Program - Sunnybrook Foundation Visitation will be taking place on June 18th from 14:00-16:00 and from 18:00-20:00 at the Ogden Funeral Homes (The Globe and Mail 13 Jun 2026)
