In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
GEORGE, John Christopher - John George passed away suddenly, on June 1, 2026, at his cottage in Wilson, New York. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his children, Liana (Joe Ryan), Erin (Rob Hughes) and Jason (Julia Suk). His treasured grandchildren, Nicola, Kate, Cameron, JP, Michael, Dylan, and Dexter will also dearly miss their loving Dedo.
JCG lived a very full life, with many ideas, interests, and opinions. He had a long career as a high school biology teacher and served as a Reserve Naval Officer in the diving unit at HMCS York. Enterprising and slightly unconventional, he found satisfaction in motorcycle riding (in his younger years), writing, watching old movies, singing opera and planting trees.
Above all, he was dedicated to his family. He loved deeply, gave generously and was happiest in the company of those closest to him.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd., at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026. In lieu of flowers, please put your phones away and spend time with each other, or buy a lottery ticket, just for fun. (The Globe and Mail 30 Jun 2026)
