HIGGINS, Larratt Tinsley - B.A. Trinity College, University of Toronto; M.A. St. John's College, Cambridge.

Son of Larratt Tinsley Higgins and Edna Ambrose Higgins. Born in Sewell, Chile, February 4, 1924. Died at home in Toronto on November 4, 2016. Lived in his house of 57 years with his dearly loved wife, Patricia until his death.

Brother of Shelia MacKenzie of Vancouver; father of Charles (Salomé Cerqueira) and Brigid (Peter Love) The joys of his life were his grandchildren: Alexandre, Julia, Carlos; and Patrick and Rebecca, all of Toronto, who remember him for his endlessly inquisitive mind, good humour, magnets, scales and bridge.

During WWII he served on a Corvette in the Canadian Navy. In the 1960s, he advocated relentlessly for Canada's interests in the Columbia River Treaty negotiations. After retirement, he raised cattle on the family farm in Bastard Township, Leeds County and was a founder and President of the Canadian Dexter Cattle Association.

Flowers gratefully declined, but a donation to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated.

But the majestic River floated on,

Out of the mist and hum of that low land,

Into the frosty starlight, and there moved,

Rejoicing, through the hushed Chorasmian waste,

Under the solitary moon, he flowed.

'Sohrab and Rustum'
