In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
KROWCHUK, Michael Robert - On September 16, 2008 Mike (Bob) passed away at the age of 68 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He leaves to miss him many loved ones, including his wife, Dee Dee; daughter, Alicia; sister, Lee (Frank) Peters; brothers, Rick (Elaine) Krowchuk, and Ron (Louise) Krowchuk; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members. Mike led a very colorful life, especially in his younger days. He served in the RCN as an ABWU2 from 1959 to 1967. He served on the Saskatoon Fire Department from 1967 to 1979. Mike then went on to work in the maintenance department of the Delta Bessborough Hotel. After 1994 he worked full-time as a Commissionaire for the Night Patrol Division until he retired in 2001. Back in the 1970's, Mike was very involved with the Communicats C B radio club. He also served a short time on the executive committee for the Army and Navy Veteran's Club. He enjoyed anything to do with aircraft and ships, and was an animal lover throughout his entire life. He had many cherished dogs over the years, his favorite, Blizzard having just passed away herself in July. Mike remarried in 1980, and began a new family. He was predeceased by both parents in the 1990's and lost several favorite aunts and an uncle in the last thirty years. Only last November his niece, Karen PetersDueck died. Family was always very important to him, even through the rough struggles in his life. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at the Cancer Clinic and the staff on 6300 and 4300 at City Hospital for their care during Mike's last long struggle. Please know that everything done for him was greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Henry and Laura MacKinnon, the staff of Acadia-Mckague's Funeral Chapel and to staff and management of the Army and Navy club for all the care and attention that has been shown to Mike and his family during this time. Thank you again to everyone! It was Mike's desire to be cremated followed by a Memorial Service. The Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 23, 2008 at Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel 915 Acadia Dr. with Rev. Henry MacKinnon officiating. If desired, donations in Mike's memory may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre 20 Campus Dr. Saskatoon, SK, S7N 4H4 or to City Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit 701 Queen St. Saskatoon, SK, S7K 0M7.
