In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
RASMUSSEN, Julius (Salty) - Dad passed away quietly at the Timmins and District Hospital on Wednesday, January, 11th at the age of 94 years. He is survived by his children: David Rasmussen of Gilmore, ON., Julie Rasmussen of Timmins and Ingrid Rasmussen of South Porcupine and by his siblings Erna and Herb. Predeceased by his son Albert "Butch" Rasmussen, his parents Sophius and Robina and his siblings; Violet, Cecil, Henry, Clifford, Floyd, Leonard and Ethel. Salty was a veteran (Navy) who was very proud to have served his country. Having worked in mines in Ontario and Quebec he spent most of his adult life living in Timmins. Enjoying the outdoors and being known for telling a tale or two or three, he made many long term friendships. The family would like to extend a special thank you to: Dr. Cohen, Dr. Cecconi, Rick from Bayshore, Nancy of Veterans Affairs, and the excellent nurses and staff of the Timmins and District Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday January 16, 2017 from the Chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home (Rev. Iris Montague officiating). A reception will follow in the Miron-Wilson Reception Lounge. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88 or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the Miron-Wilson Funeral Home, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
