In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
PAUL, Inez Vivian (née WARREN) - The family of Inez Vivian (Warren) Paul is sad to announce her passing at the Saint John Region al Hospital on August 16th, 2026. Born on November 14th, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George and Annabelle (Johnson) Warren.
Inez was first and foremost a military woman. She was very proud of her 35-year career in the Canadian Navy, which helped develop her love of travel. After retiring, she would go on to travel the world, exploring new cultures and meeting new people. She was also a longstanding member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 71, Gagetown, New Brunswick.
In addition to extensive travelling, Inez was a vital leader in the Girl Guides and Brownies and was known locally as “Brown Owl”. Her impact on those girls is evident in the number of women who still call her Brown Owl to this day. She loved the outdoors and being in her garden, digging and planting. When not outside, she excelled at card games, especially cribbage and Auction 45.
Her generous nature to help those in need was a defining aspect of her character. She was known to be the first to help and never hesitated to step up when she saw someone in trouble. Her big heart will be missed.
Inez will be missed by her sisters, Saundra and Rhoda; brothers, Malcolm (Linda), and Manley (Marguerite); sister-in-law, Phyllis; special friends, Lorraine, Mike, Claire, and Morgan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Inez was predeceased by her siblings Reginald, Huxley, Donald, Sterling, Wanda, and infant sister, Edith.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel. Memorials made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. (Oromocto Funeral Home)
Inez joined the RCN in 1964 and trained as a Radar Plotter. She served in Shelburne and Argentia in the late 1960’s and would have seen the trade evolve to Ocean Operator. She remustered to the Administrative Clerk trade later in her career so she could follow her husband’s postings. She served in Stadacona and was Chief Clerk at HMCS Discovery at one point in her naval career.
