Chief Warrant Officer Garry Orwick was a proud veteran who honourably served his country. A quiet and reserved individual, he enjoyed building, fixing things, and keeping his grass neatly cut. He found comfort in life's simple pleasures. We can picture him now, puttering away somewhere quiet with plenty of projects to keep him busy.
Garry proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 33 years, beginning his career with the Royal Canadian Navy in 1962 as a cook. Throughout his service he spent seven years at sea aboard eight different ships and was stationed at several military bases across Canada. His career also included serving with the Canadian contingent in Vietnam as part of the International Commission of Supervision and Control (ICSC).
Beyond his military duties, Garry contributed to the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton, supported the Alberta Cadet League, and helped provide meals for Vietnamese refugees at CFB Moose Jaw. He concluded his distinguished military career as Food Services Chief at RCAF Headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
