WHITE, Marion Frances - At North Bay Regional Hospital on April 30, 2011, in her 89th year, passed away peacefully with her loving family around her. She was born in Parry Sound on October 2, 1922, the youngest of seven children. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, infant son, Roger, her parents and brothers and sisters. Left to remember her love and sense of humour are her four children, Patti Mulligan (Tom), Margaret Cole (Rick), Paul White (Claudette) and Gord White (Hilda). She was held dear in the hearts of numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom often fondly recounted memories of her days as a WREN while serving in the Royal Canadian Navy in Cornwallis, N.S. during World War II. She loved spending summers at the cottage on Georgian Bay where she raised her four children to appreciate the simpler life and the importance of family roots. She loved to write poetry and over the years would put her talent to work, writing about her days in the navy and many memorable family gatherings. She was passionate about all animals but especially treasured her years with her black lab, Ali. At mom's request, family and friends are asked to gather at the McGuinty Funeral Home Saturday May 7th from 1p.m. until service time at 2p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment of cremated remains at Terrace Lawn Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to her favourite charities, Canadian Wildlife Federation or Sick Kid's Foundation. Special thanks to the nurses on 3C for their care and compassion during Mom's final days. (The North Bay Nugget 02 May 2011)
