Gregory Richard (Greg) Spellman

Born: 09 Feb 1934, Montreal, Quebec

 

Died: 30 Jun 2019, Dartmouth, NS

 

SPELLMAN, Gregory Richard - was a great friend to many including Bill W. for over 42 years. Greg was born and grew up in Montreal, Que., and moved to Halifax serving in the Navy as a stoker for 25 years. He retired from the Department of Public Works 15 years later. Greg was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Bridget, and his sister, Phyllis. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barb; sister, Joan; children, Susan (Roger), Calgary, Alta.; Greg, Dartmouth; Stephen (Tanya), Halifax; and his grandchildren, Natasha, Chantalle, Julie, Andrew, Lorraine and Sarah; as well as many friends and family. Greg was very fortunate to have a loving caretaker Tracey who he thought of as a second daughter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Freedom Foundation of Nova Scotia where Greg sat on the board and volunteered. A Celebration of Life will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, on Wednesday, July 10th at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. (Halifax Chronicle Herald 04 Jul 2019)
