Edouard Maurice (Gummy) Ouellette

Died: 06 Jul 2003

 

OUELLETTE, Edouard Maurice (Eddie-Emo) (Gummy) - 86, Dartmouth, died July 6, 2003, at home. Born in Ottawa, he was a son of the late Francis and Sara (Cabana) Ouellette. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy overseas in the North Atlantic Theatre. He left the navy in 1967, and started a new career with Via Rail, finally retiring after 15 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch 31, and the Atlantic Chiefs and Petty Officers Association. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Erma Riley; children, Marc (Mora), Thornhill, Ont.; Marguerite (Michael) Channing, Kanata, Ont.; Daniel, Halifax; Christopher (Margo), Mississauga, Ont.; Rosemary (Ralph) Ward, Kingston; Bernard (Beth) Waverley, Adrien, Dartmouth; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Agnes; brothers, Germain, Aurele and Oliver. Family will receive visitors 1:15-2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, both in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St., Dartmouth, Rev. Patricia Malin officiating. Burial will be at sea at a later date. Family flowers only by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atlantic Chiefs and Petty Officers Association. (Halifax Herald 08 Jul 2003)
