BURTON, Douglas Payne - 70, Aylesford, Kings Co., died April 9, 1996, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late John and Beatrice (Payne) Burton. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served overseas and remained with the Canadian Armed Forces until 1975. he then owned and operated Burton's Upholstery, Aylesford, until 1984. He was a member of Alvin H. Foster M.M. Royal Canadian Legion, branch 98, Kingston and a former member of Black Watch Association, Wolfville. He was an adherent of Aylesford United Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Pynch; sons, Jason, at home; John, Wolfville; stepson, Paul Pynch, Aylesford; daughters, Susan burton, Toronto; Donna Burton, Tremont, Annapolis Co.; stepdaughters, Jimetta Pynch, North Alton, Kings Co.; Pauline (Mrs. Maurice Bezanson), Morden Road; Wanda (Mrs. Alfred Jeffery), Auburn; brothers, Gordon, Fred, Kentville; sisters, Elizabeth MacFalene, Wolfville, Shirley Briggs, Dartmouth; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. he was predeceased by his first wife, Florence; sisters, Florence, Eilleen. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, legion service 7 p.m. Thursday, both in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. Funeral 2 p.m. in Aylesford United Baptist Church, Rev. Clyde Lowe officiating. Burial in Aylesford Union Cemetery. Donations to Aylesford United Baptist Church.
