Born: 21 Aug 1917, Kenville, Nova Scotia

 

Died: 16 Aug 2008, Ottawa, Ontario

 

NIXON, Charles Patrick - Son of the late Commander and Mrs. E.A. E. Nixon (nee Porteous), widower of Angela (nee Cameron). Father of Lucia (Simon Price), Charles (Anita Biguzs) and Arabella. Grandfather of Elizabeth and Miranda. Survivor of the Halifax explosion. A Career Naval Officer who, while in command of the Canadian destroyer Chaudiere, shared in the sinking of three German submarines. Later he spent many years in private business. For 30 years he was active in his charity, the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, serving as its Secretary General, and remained a Senator in the Order. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Wednesday from 7-9p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 125 MacKay St. on Thursday, August 21st at 1p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Order of St. Lazarus, 1435 Sandford Fleming Place, Ottawa, K1G 3H3.
