PATTERSON, Ralph Edward - Patterson, Ralph Edward - (27 July 1919 - 04 August 2020) It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, peacefully in his sleep, on August 4, 2020 at the age of 101. Beloved husband of Hazel, who preceded him in 1996, and Harriet, who preceded him in 1990. Son of Arthur Patterson and Ida (Hergett) Patterson. Survived by his sister Gladys. Predeceased by his brothers Laurie, Eric, and Owen in infancy, and sisters Marie and Leta.

 

Loving father to Gloria (Jim), Garnet (Judy), Brian (Carolyn), Terry (Donna), Kevin (Alice), Robin (Wendy), stepchildren Blanche and Bea. Adoring grandfather to Elaine, Darrel, Loretta, Lydia, Corey, Ashley, Jessica, Laura, Emily (deceased), Eddie, Jason (deceased), Joel, Brett, Melanie, step-granddaughter Heather, and 13 great-grandchildren.

 

Dad was born in Falmouth where he worked on farms and later as a transport truck driver. He served as Able Seaman on the anti-submarine frigate H.M.C.S Nene, and on H.M.C.S Columbia during the Second World War. During his service he rescued fellow shipmate Fred Rodway from drowning. After the war, he worked for many years with Stedmans as a stock manager, and later at the Masonic home in Windsor until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and also spent many hours researching the Patterson genealogy.

 

Dad will be remembered for his kindness and will be missed by his family and friends.

 

A public visitation (Masks must be worn and social distancing will be followed) will be held at Lindsay's Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020.

 

A private family service will be held Friday August 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Garnet Parker officiating. Burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery, 1186 King Street, Windsor.
